The
idea to save
the
9010 from the scappers torch came from an 18 year old PLA member by the
name of Charles Franz. Charles felt that the locomotive
deserved
a fate better than being cut up for scrap and he convinced the PLA
membership that it should be saved. The only Krauss Maffei of
its
kind in the world owes its existance to Charles and his chief
supporter, Dennis Mann. They are seen here with the
locomotive in
front of the Sunol station upon its delivery to its new home on the
Niles Canyon Railway.
